Nima was from Yush village in Mazandaran—'Yushij' comes from his birthplace. His poem 'Afsaneh' (1922) revolutionized Persian poetry by breaking classical meter. Initially everyone called him mad! Shamlou, Forough, and Akhavan were all intellectual disciples of Nima.
