Tasiyan

Dey 18

Tasiyan: The grief suffocated in blood. On the night of January 18, 2026 (18 Dey 1404), following a call by Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, millions of Iranians took to the streets in over 400 cities. This is recognized as the largest popular uprising in Iranian history and was met with brutal repression.

Historical Context

The Dey 1404 uprising began on December 27, 2025 following severe economic crisis, inflation, and the collapse of the rial. On the night of January 18, 2026, following a call by Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, millions took to the streets across Iran. The government cut internet at 8:30 PM and issued "shoot to kill" orders. IRGC and Basij forces fired on civilians with military weapons, including heavy machine guns and armed helicopters. "Tasiyan" means grief suffocated in blood, created as an alternative to "Tasua."

Fun Facts

The word "Tasiyan" was created as an alternative to "Tasua" to show that the true mourning of Iranians is not for events 1400 years ago, but for their own children. Some reports estimate the death toll to exceed 30,000, making this the deadliest crackdown in the history of the Islamic Republic.
