The coronation ceremony of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and Shahbanu Farah was held at Golestan Palace. This ceremony took place 26 years after the Shah's accession, on his 48th birthday.

Fun Facts

Mohammad Reza Shah first placed the Pahlavi Crown on his own head, then crowned Farah with the Shahbanu's crown. Farah is the first and only empress of Iran to be crowned. The Shah wore his blue royal mantle lined with ermine fur. Crown Prince Reza, aged 7, attended the ceremony.
