Women's Suffrage Day in Iran

Iranian women gained the right to vote and run for office for the first time. This right was approved in the White Revolution referendum.

Fun Facts

Iran was one of the first Middle Eastern countries to grant women's suffrage. In the 1963 elections, six women entered parliament. Farrokhroo Parsa was one of the first female MPs who later became Minister of Education.
