Treaty of Zuhab (Qasr-e Shirin)

The Treaty of Zuhab was signed between Safavid Shah Safi and Ottoman Sultan Murad IV. This treaty ended 150 years of conflict but ceded Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) to the Ottomans.

Fun Facts

This treaty was signed in Qasr-e Shirin (Zuhab). Armenia and Yerevan returned to Iran, but Baghdad and Mesopotamia were lost. The borders established remain the basis of the Iran-Iraq border today.
