Shahyad (Azadi) Tower was registered as one of Iran's national monuments.

Fun Facts

Shahyad Tower was inaugurated in 1971 for the 2,500-year celebration of the Persian Empire. Young Iranian architect Hossein Amanat designed it. The original name "Shahyad" (Memorial to Kings) was changed to "Azadi" (Freedom) after the revolution. It is Tehran's symbol and one of Iran's most recognizable monuments.
