Abpashoonak or "Avval Toestooni" (Start of Summer) on the first day of Tir. People splash water on each other to celebrate summer heat. This festival is popular in Arak, Farahan, Mahallat, and central Iranian cities.

Abpashoonak is a regional festival in central Iran celebrated at the start of Tir month. Tir falls near the summer solstice, marking the hottest season. Water splashing symbolizes joy and provides relief from heat. This festival is connected to but distinct from Tirgan (Tir 13).

Fun Facts

In Farahan and the Garizat region of Yazd, Tirgan is celebrated on Tir 1 instead of Tir 13! Both Abpashoonak and Tirgan involve water splashing, rooted in rain-seeking rituals and honoring the deity Tishtar.
